Antique Victorian 9CT & 14K Gold Drop Dangle Earrings
Date to the Victorian era, circa 1880.
The drop portion of the earrings acid test as 9CT yellow gold, while the shepherd hooks are newer replacements and are marked with '585' for 14K yellow gold.
These earrings were likely the 'night' portion of a pair of day-night earrings, however, the original tops clearly went astray and were replaced over time. The earring drops are crafted in hollow gold, which makes them light and easy to wear despite their length and fairly impressive overall size.
The earrings measure 2.61" from the top of the wire to the base of the last cannonball drop. They have a width of 0.73" from side to side. The pair weigh 2.6 grams.
Condition is good to very good, however, the earrings have some obvious dings and dents to the gold, which when considering their age, is expected.
