    Description

This uncirculated 5 Costa Rican colon banknote is dated 4 October 1989 and signed by Eduardo Lizano Faith and Carlos Hernandez Rodriguez. It is an olive green, purple, orange, red, brown, and blue banknote that measures 156 mm x 67 mm. Its obverse side features President Rafael Anselmo Jose Yglesias Castro and the Guarianthe skinneri orchid, the national flower of Costa Rica. Its reverse side depicts coffee and bananas being loaded on to ships at dock, a scene from Aleardo Villa’s 1897 painting in the National Theater. Though the note does not have a security thread or a watermark, it has a D-prefix serial number.
